Off-road driving is the process of driving or racing on unpaved tracks or roads, typically made of sand, dirt, rock, gravel, mud, lakebeds, snow, dunes, and even other naturally occurring terrain. Driving this type of road requires a great deal of physical strength and mental concentration. Driving on these types of surfaces can be dangerous because it requires very good traction control, which can only be achieved by driving with the tires in a specific, defined, and consistent fashion. Some examples of off-road motorcycles are dirt bikes, dirt quad bikes, BMX motorcycles, road bikes, dirt scooters, and dirt bobbers.
These two types of vehicles have various styles and models. There are also specialized parts and accessories available for each type of off-road vehicle. In general, the higher the engine displacement of the vehicle, the more powerful it is capable of being. This also comes with a higher price tag because of the size of the engine, but there are also many reasons why an off-road car or motorcycle is desirable, and some of them are discussed below.
