Charles had arranged to meet at white rock 8.30 am. They all turned up to sign on to the Menai Clean Up and after they started to look for rubbish to be picked up. Some people took photos so that they can return at a later date.
I (Kevin) turned up at about 10 am aired down and got on the UHF to see where everyone was. They were near the model airplane landing strip stuck in some gully that John John had been to before. After waiting 1 hr I drove to the south side off the air strip and met John John. He was now leading and he took us down this old creek bed (looked like one) with big rocks and loads of rear tyre air.
Then we had lunch and a chat. After about 30 mins we set off to do a rocky hill climb. John John went first he drove straight up. Then it was Charles’ turn and after a couple of attempts he gets the GU up plus a dent in the door. Brett was next up did the same as Charles’ drive plus a dent. Then it was Glenn’s turn when he got it to run properly. Then it was Kevin’s turn. Got to the 2nd lot of rocks and I had both side steps over the bottom of my doors so out came the hammers to get them down so I could get out of my truck!
Then Glenn, Gio, Matt & Luke called it a day. So the remaining 4 did 1 more hill climb then we headed towards the creek just down from gate 8. We all crossed the creek with no problems then there was this huge rock that John and Charles drove then it was Brett’s turn. He managed to get himself wedged in between the rock and a smaller one behind his spare wheel, so out came the snatch strap. Kevin drove a different line than Brett and got up with no problems. Then we aired up and headed off home.
