Day Visit on Sunday – Sarah, Glen, Bradley & Jordan
We were planning on leaving Sat at 8.00am but got off to a late start and because we were late we got stuck with this trip report.
We arrived at Glenworth Valley approximately 10am. We met at the parking lot and were welcomed with the lovely smell of fresh……horse manure!! Along with the lovely lady who frowned upon us for driving way too fast (at least 40km!!). She was on a horse of course. We checked in and a few got a coffee from the coffee shop. Mal commented that this was the furthest from bush camping he had done in a while, where you could walk to get a cappuccino and a cinnamon muffin!!.
We decided where to set up camp and Carmen got the kids out collecting kindling for our fire (get the kids to work….they’ve got to be good for something!!)
After setting up and collecting wood it was beer o’clock, especially Carmen who started on the Lambrusco practically after getting out of the vehicle. Everyone went around and compared campervans and modifications and what was new. We all decided this was one of the fun things about camping.
Relaxing time started. Nothing was organized. The rules stated NO bike riding, NO ball games but nothing was stated about chainsaws so Mal proceeded to start his up and cut down some big logs for the long cold night ahead. Then we did some bike riding then the boys started kicking the football around. Hass finally got to his turn and on his first kick he managed to land the football right onto our lovely alluminium table and put a big crease in it which Hass now owns!! We had to keep an eye out for the horsies because ball games & push bike riding scares them! We even had a visit from the ball playing, pushbike riding police to remind us but we convinced him that we stop every time the horsies come by……Loser!!
Dinner and lots more drinks and lots of dribble (especially from Rose & Brett) around the campfire continued well into the night.
Sunday got off to a late start (especially for me). The Russell’s turned up for their day visit. After breakfast a quad bike ride had been booked for a few of the big and little kids. Steph got dressed up in her dad’s old bike gear and looked very professional (much more professional that her ball throwing attempts!) Max, Steph, Shanice, Aiden, Hass, Glen, Bradley & Brett did the quad bike ride. They all said they had a great time.
Around 4.00pm, Mal and I packed up (in the light rain) and headed home. Rose & Carmen had started cooking their camp oven dinner which smelt and looked wonderful. They stayed another night but some of us have to work to keep the country going!!
It was a great weekend & thanks to Rose for organizing and leading the trip. Dianna.
